Personal comments from Evan --

May 2011 - After many leg injures over the years I have decide to forego my football career and focus on a degree in Chemical Engineering

January 2010

I reluctantly transferred to Kansas State University after my first at semester at Stephen F Austin. SFA is great school, beautiful campus, a 1st class football program and has top notch coaches but I wanted to be closer to home and family.
I have been kicking and working out with the KSU since the beginning of the Spring Semester. The plan is to red shirt my sophomore season and will be able to play for 3 more seasons.
Marcus Woodside-Heit, my snapper at Derby high school and long time friend is also expected to be snapping for me at KSU 2011 thru 2014 season.

Sept. 7, 2009
FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin freshman kicker Evan Engwall has been named Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon.

The Derby, Kansas, native led the Lumberjacks with 11 points in SFA's near upset of NCAA Division I FBS opponent SMU. Engwall was 3-of-4 on field goal attempts, and a perfect 2-of-2 on PATs Saturday. Engwall drilled field goals from 46, 38 and 48 yards out. The 48-yard field goal was not only a career long, but is also the longest field goal by any Lumberjack since the 2004 season (Ryan Rossner).
Below are Evan Engwall's 2008 High School Kicking highlights from the first 7 games of the 2008 season. Finished the season with 10 field goals and 53 extra point, total of 83 Kicking Points.

November, 2008
Had a great senior season with a team record of 12 wins and 2 losses. Lost in the Kansas 6A State Semi-Finals to Junction City, who won state
br>May, 2008
Will be playing my Senior year at Derby High School in Derby, Kansas. My dad's job transfer takes me back where I grew up. Will miss my friends and team in Arizona but look forward to playing football with my old buddies in Kansas.

February thru April 2008
Kicked and Punted for the Phoenix Raiders in the Arizona Football League (Feb-April). This an amateur 13 team league with some really good talent through the state of Arizona. Most of these guys are ex-high school and college players that just love to play football. Ages ranged from 20 into the 40s. I really enjoyed playing for Phoenix Raiders, a great bunch of guys with some exceptional talent. This gave me some great experience under pressure from some huge linemen. See the second half of the second from the top Video - Jr Season.

January 2008
Selected to Chris Sailers Top 12 List for Underclassmen for the second time and ranked as a FIVE STAR KICKER at the Las Vegas 6th Annual National Kicking Event. Last year I was the only Sophomore to make the Top 12 list and was ranked #1 in the 2009 class.
July 2007
Selected as a 2007 Preseason All-Star in the Arizona Top Guns Magazine
Jan. 2007
Big News - Nationally Ranked #1 in the graduating class of 2009 and selected as the only Sophomore to make Chris Sailer?s TOP 12 Underclassmen at the January 2007 Las Vegas 5th Annual National Kicking Event.
Actively looking for college scholarship opportunities. I will graduate in the spring of 2009. I have a great work ethic and continue to improve. Looking forward to making that step into playing college football.
Presently running Varsity track. Have qualified for state in the 100 M with a time of 10.9 and also running the High Hurdles,200 M. and 4 X 100M Relay
Checkout my 2005 9th grade Highlight tape (with sound) above. I'm now adding 2006 highlight as I have time. It is a little ruff but watch for updates. Since moving to Arizona from Kansas I have been mentored by Alex Zendejas and his family of Kickers. Alex is a Senior at Ironwood High School and made All State Kicker in 2005 and has been selected as 2006 Preseason All Star by Arizona Top Guns Magazine. He has now signed and will be playing for the University of Arizona. You can see his website at:
http://kicking.com/members/view.asp?id=Zendejas
MY 2002 highlights are of a sixth grade FB game taped by the opposing team. I scored 2 defensive TDs and 2 offensive TDs, plus kicking for another 6 pts, scoring all 30 pts in the game. There is also some kicking from Paul Assads 2003 Kicker Paradise camp and winning a 7th grade 100 Meter race.
June 2006
Had a great 2005 Freshman football season at Shepherd Middle school and looking forward to my first year at Red Mountain High School.
June 2005
BIG NEWS - Leaving Kansas and moving to Mesa, Arizona. I will be playing for Shepherd Middle School in 9th grade and Red Mountain High School next year. Looking forward to getting to know my new team mates and coach. Since my Kicking Camp at the University of Kansas and working with Luis and Alex Zendejas in Arizona I have really extended my field goal range. My best is now out to 54 yards and I have been able to Kick-off into the end zone.
May 2005
Finished my 8th grade Track season. My best time in the 100M was 11.9 sec and my 200 M was 24.5 sec. The competition was a lot stiffer this year. It's time to start kicking again
January 2nd,2005
Working on getting myself ready for my 1st year in high school. There is an opportunity to make Derby JV or even the varsity football team as a freshman. The varsity kicker graduates this year (2005), possibly opening the door for me. Have to put a big effort to be able to perform at that level. Following a workout schedule of lifting, running, and kicking to give me the edge I'll need. Will also be running the 100 and 200 meter in some indoor track meets this January and Feburary.
November 26th,2004
Hope to compete for High School Varsity kicking position next year, at least for PATs and field goals. I'll need to improve my kick-offs thou.
March 21st, 2004
Track is taking most of my time this spring and not getting much practice kicking the ball. I am getting stronger and faster thou. These track workout should really improve my kicking and punting. Had my 1st 7th grade track meet April 3rd. Took a 1st in the 100M with time of 12.3 seconds against a strong wind, 1st in the 200M 26.2 seconds. I will also be running the hurdles, but my heel has been bothering me.
Nov. 5th, 2003
Finished a very disappointing 7 grade football season. Even thou I did have a successful season at tailback and defensive end, never was given a chance to kick a field goal or extra point. Rarely practiced them either. We could have won a couple more games if our team would have developed a kicking game. Punting was also rarely practice along with long snapping, blocking and punt coverage. I'm not sure how many punts I had blocked last season and when I did get it off, there wasn't any coverage down field. This is a good example of how important everyone on the team is for a successful kicking game. I hope things are better in 8th grade.
August 2003
I have been growing pretty fast lately. Having to rediscover my kicking form.
Hitting field goals consistantly out to 37 yards out. Working on getting more hang time and distance on my punts and kick offs.
Hit 2 out of 4 from 40 yards today, August 4th, 2003. The two I missed were real close.
6th Grade Nov. 2002
Working toward a future in Kicking and Punting. Just love to play football. Play tailback and outside linebacker/def end also. Kicking extra points were worth 2 points and running were worth 1 point in last years 6th grade youth league. Made 9 of my 11 attempts on PATs. Thanks to my coach Scott Snodgrass for practicing extra points with the whole team at every practice.
Our 2002 team had a great season winning 7 and 1 loss. Played the team that beat us at a end of season bowl game, we won in overtime.
7th grade will go back to 1 point for a PAT and 2 for a run.

My longest field goal in practice is 40 yards.
Punting was difficult this year. Since our team had a hard time getting a good long snap, after a normal snap to the quarterback, he would pitched the ball back to me in the tailback position. Made it look like a sweep. Worked pretty good.

Email me, like to hear from you
