The stance is a critical component in a good kick. It is important that your shoulders are square to the ball (or the spot where the ball will be placed after being snapped). If you are right-footed your left foot should be forward and vice versa if you are left-footed. This is the foot that will be your first step toward the ball and will eventually become your plant foot.
Your plant foot needs to be pointed toward an imaginary point about the length of a football away from where the ball will be placed down.
